Rose After Summer Rain

I wanted to tell the people I care about and who I believe care about me my good news.  As a matter of fact, I was so excited I called Davina  at Shades of Crimson already.

Davina said I should tell all my readers for sure, so here goes.

I FEEL BETTER!

It is true.  I went to the new, caring Naturopathic Doctor I found at the Heart of Wellness, and  even she said, “Yes! You are much improved.”   So improved that she took me off the blood pressure medication, yessiree, she said no more of that medicine and let us see if the BP stays  low.

I had also lost 2 pounds, which I will report to you, but I don’t think, since it hasn’t been off for a whole week yet, I will mention the other 5 pounds.

My clothing feels looser.

We think the virus that I got on the train November 20, 2009 is cleared up and now the Adrenal Fatigue Syndrome can let me have some energy to work on other areas that still need improvement.  There is still the pesky business of a yeast infection and a lymphatic infection that was never cleared.

It took me all day but I was able to process 50 pounds of organic strawberries into the food dehydrator and freezer.

I had 2 massages during the last week of May, and have felt that to be the first major turning point in my healing.  I have not had a 20 hour sleep since then, although getting enough energy to get out of bed in the morning is still a very difficult endeavor.

Still a huge problem is the pain and weakness in my right knee – stairs are scary- and yet the inflammation in the nerve endings has gone quite quiet –  wow am I glad.

The fuzziness in my vision is also disappearing as are the headaches – hip hip hurrah for steel cut oatmeal and cups and cups of organic frozen blueberries.

So what have I been doing? A short list:

  1. I put myself first
  2. I am working on staying in the present moment as often as possible
  3. I am eating fresh organics from my CSA box and following Dr. Fuhrman’s
  4. recommendations in his EAT TO LIVE program (see sidebar)
  5. I read 15 minutes a day from Geneen Roth’s newest book:  WOMEN, FOOD, AND GOD ( this is my 8th time through this book)
  6. I do 30 minutes a day of meditation and I begin with reading the “I am….” Exercise on page 139 of Debbie Ford’s book  THE DARK SIDE OF THE LIGHT CHASERS (I have explored this book for years, I cannot afford  the new one with Deepak Chopra and Marianne Williamson)
  7. I am walking up and down hills for 1 hour everyday (about 2 miles at my deliberate pace – not in a hurry. Going quickly tells my Adrenals that I am being chased and need to defend myself.)
  8. Two times a week I attend Yin-Yoga classes and do the “I am ….” Exercise while holding poses for 5 minutes at a time.
  9. I do prayer chanting one hour per week.

Blog coach Barbara Swafford, reminded me about having an apple cider vinegar w/ the mother cocktail every afternoon.

My Doctor also did more acupuncture to assist in Detox and to open my throat.   I have 6 massages left for over the summer from my insurance, and I will see the Doctor again in a month.

Tony and Jannie keep me laughing.

I am also working on releasing another virus from my system which is keeping my Adrenal Fatigue Syndrome flared up and active.  This virus is called MONEY and FEAR.

Talon’s posts remind me of beauty in the world.

I am not all the way to feeling tip top, or up to full energy, but I am so happy to report that I feel like I am on my right pathway – finally; getting some good clues that health is returning.  Progress is good and I am getting unstuck.

    YEY and YEY and YEY for you, Patricia! Really, it’s the small steps that make a big difference. I get antsy and want to see results NOW and that’s not the way to get long-term change.

    So, bravo for you. I’ve worked with my naturopath and have been on a bunch of supplements for almost a year now and have seen a big change in my overall health.

    Are you taking a good Cod Liver Oil supplement? My doc says if you could take only ONE thing, she’d recommend that.

    I’m curious about the I AM meditation. I think I’ll go check that out. I really do need to add in that meditation piece. My Guides have “suggested” it to me about 30 times now and I keep pushing that part away (not sure why). Perhaps I should stop ignoring them, eh?

    Laughter is for sure my best potion for healing! Followed by hugs, both giving and receiving. Hanging out under a shady tree seems to rejuvenate me if ever I get silly and start worrying about something.

    Sounds like life is looking up .. good for you & keep it going through the summer .. so when those darker days come – you’ll be better all round and ready to cope.

    The few times my doctor sees me .. he just says – nope you’re a good patient .. never need my services .. I’m lucky and look after myself .. long may it last …

    I truly need to keep taking it easy, I often get too excited and set myself back a pace or two, but Davina advised me to be bold at this point.
    I truly feel as though I belong to a caring community and that has been vital to my recovery efforts.

    SO happy to hear that you are feeling better. It’s always nice to share good news… spread it around… bask in it. It’s juicy, like those strawberries you were telling me about. Thank you for sharing.

    What struck me in this post was your very first item on the list: “I put myself first.” In some way, that felt humble to read. We hear how a lot of people have trouble with this and attach guilt to it. But putting oneself first doesn’t mean letting go of others. That whole black and white scenario can really keep us swinging from highs to lows and tossing around all sorts of “shoulds”.

    Lisa,
    I am so sorry I missed you comment which went in to moderation? and my comment luv is not working well right now????

    I am doing Omega-3 from flax seeds and meal…I also have a supplement I am taking, We are working on getting the things I am putting in to be useful….they seem to be passing straight on through so I am down to just a few supplements and several plant based medicines – one for detox

    I find the guided meditations in Debbie’s book very good, because right not my mind is just racing when I try to still it…so with the many meditations in that particular book at least I can get to mind relaxation, which is powerful for me….

    I highly recommend that piece of the pie :)

    Patricia,
    I was supposed to spend the afternoon with a friend but we both decided to stay in and relax. Neither one of us are big on crowds.

    I must have joined you for that pizza without knowing it — thanks :-) . I was thinking of pizza for dinner tonight; ended up having chicken instead. There’s nothing like homemade pizza though — mmm good.

    Thank you for your kind words.

    Typical Fuhrman day…( Have a wee bowl of steel cut oatmeal w/blueberries) 1.5 cups frozen blueberries for breakfast, lunch is about 1:30pm with a tossed green salad with about 7-10 veggies and flax seed meal …my first Oil serving of the day too…

    supper is around 6pm and includes a whole apple, and a plate of finger vegetables. On Saturday evening I have a salmon patty

    Since I am cooking different meals from my partner Gluten-Free/high athletic expenditure person….I try to keep life as simple as possible….

    Nuts are bothering me during my detox so I would also add some of those every other week….simple, simple, simple

    I did not catch the big flu thing, just a virus which took over my Adrenal Glands and Liver….it has been long haul with a long way to go, but am making progress.
