There’s a place For Me

Six mornings a week, rain or shine (not snow), I get out of bed put on my sneakers and gear and go for a 4 to 5 mile walk around the lake.

This morning the sunshine was fully present and I was working on breaking in my new shoes.

I have to do a new route because the 3 mile walk is closed while new light standards are put into place. At about 2.5 miles into my walk I turn around and start back. ½ mile back I sit on the park bench and do my second stretching routine and free up the muscles in the small of my back.

As I sat down this morning, I noticed that there was a new sign above the dog poo bag holder, but I did not read the sign assuming it was about the closure of the other path of the walk. After stretching, I took several lovely, sweet deep breaths, stood up and faced the new sign.

lake sign

This is the first thing I thought: “Oh good I am not over limit”….then the song with the line “there’s a place for us, somewhere a place for us…” began marching through my head and I just had the most glorious, out loud and friendly laugh.

Just had to have a picture of what I saw to share with you today! What makes you laugh right out loud? Yep! I truly wish to know.

So what did the sign say?

I can’t think of anything that makes me laugh out loud, though I know at times I do.

    Hi-
I count on my dog to make me laugh.
When I want to get him out of the office, I put in a movie for him in the living room.
He usually starts to howl when orchestra music starts to play.
So what was on the sign?

@Mike and Bunny – There’s a picture of the sign right in the post.

@Patricia – I’m glad you’re not over the limit, too. Nice, tolerant limit. 😉 What makes me laugh out loud are two things: something that’s completely unexpected, and something that’s completely far-fetched and absurd.

For the unexpected, Ron Whit’s hilarious “Tater Salad” story, where he says he thinks there was profiling, because the police were giving out tickets to anybody who was driving down that particular… sidewalk.

For the far-fetched and absurd, a lot of Stephen Wright’s one-liners.

Dot – the picture wasn’t there when I commented. Now that I can see it, I guess my question isn’t so “weighty.” Thanks for mentioning it as I wouldn’t have gone back and looked otherwise.

I love those moments when you just burst into laughter. It’s such a great feeling and I’m fortunate that it happens to me a lot. Thanks for writing about this. Just reading about it happening to you has made me feel happier!

Mike and Bunny I hope you came back and saw the sign when it arrived on the post!…..I sent it to my IT person off my cell phone so it took some maneuvering! Oh good Mike I see you came back.!

Glad to know you both laugh out loud!

    Dot,
Thank you for the suggestions I will follow through. That sign just made me laugh and now every time I pass it, I feel delighted

    Positively Present,
Glad if I gave you a smile…I am working on lightening up in many aspects of my life.

Looking to laugh…that would help me out quite a bit…I am a very intense person and think I am just not open sometimes to the big laughs out in the world.

Hehe glad it made you feel good. :)

My kids make me laugh out loud, especially the younger one, and occasionally my husband.

  9. Patricia Says:

    Vered,
Kids are just rather naturally funny – then there are toddlers who just go for the laugh once they get one! It is so freeing to just laugh – I guess it is good for one’s heart too.

Your post made me laugh out loud. Self deprecating humour is always a winner in my book. I also love to laugh at inappropriate humour, double entendre, innuendo, smut, slapstick. Basically, if a five year old would find it funny, so would I. 😀

Well, this post certainly made me lol, too!

Humor, how do I laugh thee? Can I really count the ways? I see it 24-7.

My Uncle Sylvester’s new 3-legged goat, Miriam III, always makes me laugh. Her trick of late — stealing cookies right off the picnic table makes us all chortle.

    Dave,
I rather had a feeling that the humor switch was always on at your soul! But it is nice to have the definitive answer here!

    Jannie,
Miriam III would make me laugh too…but typos are certainly a hot button for me…and when Asian language folks try to translate into English…
I wish I had learned to defend myself with humor, rather I take most everything with intensity. I had to go see the movie UP to relax the intensity of my lab results…and that worked…a rather adult movie in cartoon format – Oh that Pixar

hahaha…This is so funny. I too get up each morning and hit the pavement. I am afraid I don’t have signs such as these to humor me.

I would have to say my children make me laugh. With Dylan still being 8 he can come up with the most unusual comments.

Thank you for placing a smile upon my face tonight. It is nice to see I would make the weight limit on this as well. LOL

Hi Patricia. This post made me laugh out loud! Nice to share with you. Lots of things make me laugh out loud; and many of those times are while reading blogs. Watching the tv show Two and A Half Men makes me laugh out loud quite often. There’s nothing like a good laugh to make you relax and let go.
