A MAGNIFICENT CRIME: Agency of Burglary and Theft: A novel ~Kim Foster
“My particular calling had revealed itself at a young age. I was stealthy, I had quick hands, and I was quiet.” “I was genetically destined to be a thief, but for me it was more than that. There was nothing I’d rather be doing.”
A MAGNIFICENT CRIME just got my toes tapping and I was so excited when the author, Kim Foster sent me a Kindle copy of her new book in the series Agency of Burglary and Theft. You see, I had read her first novel, A BEAUTIFUL HEIST, and reviewed it previously and it just made me want to read more. I went for my walk first thing in the morning, then opened the book and began to read until the book was read cover to cover.
A MAGNIFICENT CRIME is fun and Cat Montgomery is just a smart, clever character with a dash of klutz every gal needs. Her mother is not as prominent in this book and yet she does call her daughter as she is climbing the outside of a hotel to steal emerald earrings from the penthouse. It gave me a chuckle because I know several mothers who would something like this. Cat is having a bit more trouble at this time in her life, because she is having anxiety attacks as she develops a fear of death; she is being threatened by a most despicable fellow.
The HOPE Diamond is being moved from the Smithsonian to the Louvre in Paris and Cat is being threatened into going to Paris to steal it for this despicable fellow. She has to leave her FBI boyfriend at home and the AB&T Agency does send an Art theft, who Cat has worked with before, to assist her in her mission. By the end of the story, Cat has two men in love with her – the art thief and the FBI agent. Brooke her former mentor and nemesis also turns up in Paris and we are introduced to several new characters, with connections to the Department of Antiquities (DOA). Gladys, the computer hacker, is still a presence and I would have missed her not being in the story. I just adore the hackers in these stories, what a great office assistant!
The story has a good pace and creativity of themes and ideas. I loved the tour of Paris and the fun suggestions by Cat’s best friends. There are some chase scenes, and some murders in the background and I truly enjoyed that the book was not jet-propelled and the anxiety was relieved by Cat understanding herself. I cannot wait for the next book in the series. I believe you will enjoy reading – A MAGNIFICIENT CRIME
Kim Foster sent me a Kindle copy of the book for review. It is available on Amazon in paperback also. Foster lives in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada with her partner and 2 children. I enjoy reading her blog and following her on Facebook and Twitter and was surprised to learn that until recently she was a Physician. She has a delightful sense of humor and is dedicated to a healthy life and style.
