Holly Near singing I AM WILLING

Bashful Rhody June 2011 by Whitney Farms

I AM WILLING is one of my favorite songs about change.  At my recent book group, I was reminded of this gem and with a word sheet and an iPad we were able to sing along.  It was a memorable reminder.  I thought you might like to know or to remember it also.

So I am sharing:

Here are the words so that you can sing along:
I am open and I am willing
For to be hopeless would seem so strange
It dishonors those who go before us
So lift me up to the light of change

There is hurting in my family
There is sorrow in my town
There is panic all across the nation
There is wailing the whole world round

May the children see more clearly
May the elders be more wise
May the winds of change caress us
Even though it burns our eyes

Give me a mighty oak to hold my confusion
Give me a desert to hold my fears
Give me a sunset to hold my wonder
Give me an ocean to hold my tears.

I want to express my gratitude to all the folks who come by and read my words and especially those who would make a comment or two along the way – I feel a part of a fine community – Thank you each and every one.

Holly Near has written the theme songs of my life..

My puppy had to have emergency surgery as he swallowed something which got caught in his esophagus – very touch and go weekend.. we are home now…I wrote and listened to music to get through the hours of waiting…music brings change

Thank you Melody – He is wandering around at my feet right now – all drugged up but definitely feeling better ( and no pain) We had to drive him to another city to get a middle of the night surgeon and then it took 4 procedures –

very scary, now I need some recovery time too :)

    Hi Hilary,
The flowers are rhododendrons from my yard called Whitney’s bashful! I just thought they would look grand on the table when our first round of company was here.

I discovered Holly Near when I was in college and so was she…and here she is still going strong Beautiful, inspiring music and this one works for my meditations and as a call to action.

Thanks for you good wishes Hilary and you too have a great week

  5. Jannie Funster Says:

THOSE are some fine, fine lyrics!

I especially like the line about honoring all those have gone before us,making me think of my grandmother who was always so cheery, now that is the only way to be.

A call to action from Holly Near to carry on strong in faith that all IS well.

Thank YOU for your very sweet and hard to do without part of this blogging community.

I loved the song and sang along with it:~) Thanks for sharing this. It a perfect song to sing aloud. I also read it aloud as I do poetry. For some reason, this resonates more with me.

It’s also nice to see your picture!!! I’ve been on break and so I haven’t been visiting and it was so cool to get here and actually see YOU!

Thank you – I had to play with the picture a bit because of the camera angle my teeth looked yellow and grey…but IT Girl took some of the busy out of the background and made the teeth look normal.

I realize that I do not have a current picture of me – IT Girl is passing through on the 7th of July so I might get another one…then?

This is one of my favorite songs by one of my favorite singers…I have been checking your blog to see if you are back – I miss you and your good story ideas….hope you had a good break or are still having a good break
