I am cute on my own bed
Hello my name is Wistful Westie’s Zippity but everyone just calls me ZIP. I am 12 weeks old today and I have come to Patricia’s Wisdom to take charge of the blog and the household. I am just bursting with energy, happiness and JOY.

So this is my new house
My job is to keep Patricia company on her walks and while she stays home to work. My second big task is to be the Biking Architect’s own allergy free dog and his favorite white dog.
Last Thursday I discovered I had a very great voice for howling and barking – Having the need to go out to the dog run or being put in the crate activates the howl. Having Karl the Mail Carrier come by frees up my barking. I am very good at it!
I dryly sleep all through the night!
I have a new wool toy which is called clown head, because we thought Santa was not a good idea. I love to run after it and thump it on the floor and fetch it back to the tosser.

run... who me?
Here’s a holiday riddle for you: What goes up stairs 50 times a day but does not come down?

At the top
I am neat and tidy – third activity of each day after my breakfast and walk is to clean out my crate. It is a big job but someone has to do it!

tidying the crate - everything out
The folks at Patricia’s Wisdom and me – ZIP – are going to take a few weeks away from posting and work on “training” and cross country skiing and eating and sharing with the family. Being of Service too! Patricia says she will be reading your good posts and still visiting here – but in between the activities.

Happy Holidays to Each and Every One

pose for camera
May you all just wiggle with happiness and joy !!

Betsy,
We thought we would have to wait until spring, but a fairly local breeder could not get the person to sign for neutering and so she called and offered Zip to us – we are delighted because Hubs is not allergic and he is rather mellow for this breed.
He is very serious in the face – but very very cute!

What a cutie! Look forward to hearing about Zip’s adventures.

I have been taking him for walks zipped into my raincoat – we are having heavy, heavy warm weather and rain – I hope we will keep having good walks after the next round of shots.
Other than his sharp teeth he is very cute!

Zip, you have the sweetest mistress ever! She must be over-joyed to have you in her life. You’re very very very cute (Riley and Charlie both agree).
And don’t worry – you’ll be able to go up and DOWN before your mistress knows it and as you learn – well, that’s the best puppy action to watch of all!
Have a beautiful Christmas, Zip – it will be your first~!

Talon, Riley and Charlie,
Wish we could arrange a play date – that would be fun – wonder if dogs could blog!
Zip learned down stairs today…and that made for a painful problem – He started downing stairs when I was putting in the electronic air filter panels. I did not know he was behind me and when the filters clacked into place they scared ZIP…he backed into a Hobo Spider trap and stuck….I had to pull it off quickly as he danced around in total panic…and it pulled about 1/4 of the hair off his front leg, while he sunk his sharp teeth into my right hand pointer finger….We are all okay now…but my good typing finger is looking like a big purple blob with a neat row of teeth marks. Poor puppy.
We have recovered enough for a good play and now a nap! and blogging

Looking forward to pictures of your next pup! This little guy is so fun and so smart. He is napping so I am blogging.
Happy Holidays to you. Are you doing something special?
on Dec 13th, 2010 at 5:45 pm
Patricia, Zip is just about the cutest thing I’ve seen in a good long while. In fact, this little guy reminds me of Snowy from the Tintin comics by Hergé which puts a big goofy smile on my face. Cass is gonna have to read this post ‘cos she will just melt at the photos of Zip. She so totally will!
I hope you and your family have an excellent Christmas. Take care, y’all!

thank you Tony and yes send Cassie right over, because this is great cuteness in action – and funny.
Tonight he ate a slug and would not make for pretty pictures as it’s slime is all over his face – we are working to clean up his act
Lots of baby cute mixed with hard core sharp teething! at high speed…some folks just like this sort of thing
Happy Holidays to you and Cassie too.
When Library Girl gets here next week, I am looking forward to a great puppy sitter – I may even take a nap!

Hi Patricia! How adorable! We just got Lucy Lou (LuLu) before Thanksgiving. You and I are going thru the same fun and adventures of puppy training! She’s a Morkie (Maltese/Yorkie) and a great playmate for Mondo, my Yorkiepoo. Not enjoying the FOUR degrees in the morning for potty runs at 5 am. but other than that she has been a great joy!

Looks like we will need a play date too suzen…
I know about the morning potty runs – not freezing here, but heavy, windy downpours – Zip is learning to dive out and go quickly!
I needed the playpen this week to surround the Christmas Tree and it is working pretty well – just a couple of accidents last night, which might be because Hubs was focused on something else??
Enjoy, enjoy… I am having fun

Hello Jannie,
Puppy is napping so I can get on computer! I forgot about the sharp teeth and chewing of the young and crate training but we are working it out.
I needed company on my walks as I am about to double my walking time again. My friend thought I should have a puppy because folks who have dogs live longer – but I am enjoying the experience so far very much.
I like having another focus besides the computer activities.
I think ZIP rather named himself and he knew it was his name right away – although when he does something very very naughty we both call him the name of our former dog!
Happy Holidays to you and yours

We also have a westi by the name of Doris. She’s a year old now, but looked identical when we first brought her home. She too would climb the stairs each day and never have the nerve to come down. She’s mastered that particular skill now! There’s a painting of her on my blog.

Northpenninegallery,
Oh I am coming over to look at your painting as soon as I finish this comment.
Thank you for your comment, and it is reassuring that you survived the first year! I just seem to love this wee guy and his funny fierce outlook on life. We also put a bell on the outside door because it is down 5 steps to go out and I can not see the door – and today he is doing well on the stairs and has hit the bell each trip with his nose – then I think he laughs?
Welcome, welcome…I’m heading over to see your work.

He does look like quite a zipper, doesn’t he? And a yipper! I can imagine it was hard to capture him on film with all the zipping around he does. And yet your reflexes were fast enough!

He loves to chew on zippers! Not so much on yipping, more mellow, but he did bark at a banana slug today which would not move out of his way!
It Girl cleaned up the photos…and I had to take 52 to get the few workable ones!
I will be over to check out your lastest writing – hopefully tomorrow….puppy sitter arriving next WED.
He does keep me warm when I am reading – good reader dog!

Your new pup is SO cute. I’ll bet he brings you all tons of fun and lots of laughs.
Happy 2011!

Barbara,
I did not even know I wanted to share life with a puppy – particularly the one who is barking and barking for practice right beside the computer now – and searching for the buried bones???What is this?
…but I am so happy to be sharing my day with this cutie and having company on part of my walks 2 times a day….I whipped up a little red sweater for him and although I think he does not need it, it ups the oos and ahhs…
He is so smart but I still must write when he is napping as he is not very patient with my computer time yet. Getting to be a great reading buddy and that is superb.
I like not being home alone all the time and even the vet thinks this is the right dog for me and my intensity issues. Thank is encouraging
Hope you had a great holiday The break was good
