Hi Patricia - food is always a great way to connect. And folk who get you to have a drink now and then are always welcome visitors.

Jeff sounds interesting. I would love to work in a National Park for a while but I must admit - I'd probably die of fright if I saw a bear close up.

Barbara,
Thank you for coming by....I wish I was dropping in for tea with you as I get ready to board the train to SF.....I think we should just make a date....Happy Thanksgiving to you

JD
We have a restaurant in town where every time we go we end up eating with old friends and staying until they close.
Food and Friends so vital...
Now we need to set a date for meeting and eating :)

Food and friends sort of sums up my life.

I make it a habit to meet with old friends and new each week and my favorite haunts. It helps me stay connected, reflect on the past, and dream up the future. It's always a great change of pace from my daily routine.

Hi Patricia,

Like you, I like breaking bread with friends. And an occasional drink is good, too.

I have so many memories shared over food. And sometimes the conversation was so good, we didn't even taste what was in front of us.

Your friend Jeff sounds like a great guy. I wish him well on his travels to Ethiopia. When he returns, you'll have to share more of his stories.

My mom would have to be the one I bonded with over food. She LOVED to cook. When I became a vegatarian much to her dismay she would make me big salads, call me un and say come on over!

In Michigan one of my favorite restaurants was 'Roses.' I'd meet my two therapist friends there and the three of us would chat, eat good food and drink wine.

I don't know what church Jannie Bunannie goes to but I want some of that lobster!

I think we bond with food and our mother's at birth!

Jannie,
The first time my in-laws came to my house it was a rainy, cold 4th of July so I made Thanksgiving dinner for them too...it rather warmed up the whole event, and softened their thoughts about me.

Food and friends are a winning combination.

I would love to be there sharing food with you, sounds like a lot of fun. And I'd most likely entice you to join me in a drink too.

Food, food, food. What a bringer-together of people. Church lobster and turkey suppers. Bake sales. Picnics. Too many to ever recollect really.

One meal I do cherish (and have photos of,) is when my penpal, Christine, from France came to stay with us for a couple of weeks in July '95. I made her and her son "Thanksgiving In July," and it was a highlight, as they do not celebrate that holiday over there. I made the dinner with a large chicken intead of a turkey, but with all the usual trimmings. Pumpkin pie for dessert, of course.

And we had so much fun. That was back when we still had our old kitchen and I love looking at the photos, I just ran across them the other day. I'll post them on my blog some day. Good times! Good times indeed.

xo
