Janice,
I love that this magazine is now running a blog and on twitter, they do not share all the articles online and are still dependent on donations but it is well worth a visit and to put it into your reader and twitter feed.
I am sure you will really enjoy it and that you children will enjoy it too - truly assisted mine with their world studies and volunteering spirit to hear another side of the story - and a positive one!

Thanks for pointing this out; I'd never heard of it. Like some of the folk above, I've given up most subscriptions too. I prefer to let synchronicity draw me to a magazine if I'm in the mood for a treat. I find, though, that I'm buying fewer magazines now that I dip into a variety of blogs.

JD
I think you would really enjoy the YES magazine and they have a partial version of the magazine on a blog - then they need donations to pay their staff....a non-profit with no ads.

Barbara
Yes they have a free trial offer posted right now I think reading one whole issue would be a good plan - the person who pays for my subscription I give it back to her and she shares with the 13 households of her co-housing group - I have 26 old issues on the shelf behind my head if you ever want to borrow an old issue- one of the high school library's roof caved in so I am going to give my whole set to them when they are back up and running....

Hi Patricia,

The Yes magazine sounds like a great value. I just checked their website and see they have a free trial offer. I'm thinking of signing up for that.

Like many of those who commented before me, I have also stopped all of my subscriptions to magazines. Now I mostly read blogs or a books by authors I love.

Yes! Magazine sounds fun and I like the focus.

Good write up and it looks like a ton of insights and connections.

Jannie,
Yes, I am a huge reader - trying to increase my fiction rather than non-fiction list!

Well, I got Oprah for my mum and it was so full of perfume I could not read it to her so that was at least 3 years ago. It is now almost totally on line, and that does not smell! I can also listen to the radio shows I do not have on her online magazine.

Wow, you've read over 100 of their referred books.

Yes, Yes and Yessss to YES Magazine. !!!!!

I am TOTALLY gogn to check out the newest issue.

Did you ever get to read issues 1 through 19?

And REALLY -- Oprah's magazine is putting in those perfume things? I assumed she would do better for her readers than that.

Tess,
I do not get any magazines except YES any more. Time is on Kindle, and I am actively working to not get any catalogs, which use 18 million trees for just the Christmas additions....I would rather breath clean air then get a catalog.

I do not have time to read a lot of magazines either, because I consider blogs and stumbleupon my big reading sources.

I just love seeing how many people care about each other, the planet and how they creatively do good works that truly help.

I do love that YES is partially on line and their updates on twitter

I could not read Oprah's magazine because I am allergic to perfumes and it was way too strong

Patricia,
I have read the magazine and did enjoy it. I gave up magazine subscriptions all year. I'm really missing Oprah and Runner's World.

One thing I love about the internet is seeing how many people care!

Cath,
I was also wondering about delivery of YES because it goes all around the world. The must have some deal about printing in other countries? They are a non-profit and although they have part of the magazine on line and twitter some of it is only available on recycled paper.

I have asked them to put it on Kindle - they are actually investigating that - My Time magazine comes for $1.49 a month on Kindle and much faster than by mail. ??? The times they are a changing!
