Jannie,
Two times a year I drink alcohol now....my birthday and once during Christmas time....More than that and I am out of balance for sometimes weeks.

I have belonged to a Voluntary Simplicity group for over 30 years...and practice it daily....Maybe it's only because I truly hate to dust!

"Sleet and thunderstorm majesty made the heart beat faster." I love the turbulent joy of that kind of weather!

And indulging once or twice year - wow, I cannot imagine. Well, I CAN imagine. But ca't see me ever getting to that. What amazing willpower to indulge only that so often. But some people so it.

And Voluntary Simplicity - that will be my mantra for today!

Thanks.
xo

Friar,
This is deep and your blog has been very funny. Thank you for both.

The wee Jaime in my novel is 6'2" and a burly stocky man of 46 yrs.
Wee Mac is a massive, stocky man in his 50s....still a term of respect and honor...

You will always be your mom's child!

LIFE is like a snow globe. Everything looks calm and serene, and everything is perfectly in it's place.

But when you shake things up, it's chaos everywhere.

But if you give it time...things eventually settle down again...until the NEXT storm.

(Oooh..now that's DEEP!)

Okay..I'm done philosphizing for the day. Time to watch cartoons.

Barbara,
I am enjoying this arrival of spring so very much this year...and I am leading several workshops on Voluntary Simplicity - helping them get started. With my youngest's graduation coming up I am so ready to simplify and get rid of stuff....Look out I feel like spring cleaning is on it's way!

Dot,
We do have anemones and crocus up and I see one daffodil ready to pop...but then the snows come again, then sun,...then freezing again - it just builds an energy....there is a fresh clean smell to the air.

Nice descriptive writing! A week ago we had a snowstorm, and yesterday it went up to 73 degrees (and down to 42 degrees as I waited on the bus stop to go home). I smelled flowers on the air that morning, but haven't identified the source. No crocuses or daffodils are up yet. The magnolia tree at the metro station has pretty big buds on it, though.

Hi Patricia - This time of the year reminds me of fresh starts. As the days get longer (love the time change), and we see the sun more, I begin to feel I'm getting charged up for new things to come. It's also them time of the year I love to redecorate and simplify. I call it my nesting cycle.
