Factoid Friday: Carrots

- Whole organic carrots with the peel on are one of the healthiest foods one can consume and a good source of fiber.
- Dr. Christiane Northrup says in her Menopause book, The Wisdom of Menopause, that eating 5 whole organic carrots per week can reduce your risks of cancer by about 50%.
- Cocktail carrots are created by taking the damaged, crooked, broken carrots at harvest, and lathing them down into the happy, little shape we see in the bag or at weddings.
- Ever notice that your cocktail carrots are getting a white powdery substance on the outside? This is the chlorine that they were dipped in coming up to the surface.
- We know that chlorine is a carcinogen.
- Although we know that dogs cannot digest carrots, they make a sweet treat when training and help to get the tartar off their teeth and get rid of “doggie breath”.

Hi Patricia – this is definitely a good case for eating carrots at home but not at parties.
By the way, you didn’t tell me you were feeling so poorly. I saw you mention it on another blog – I think it was Barbara’s. You should be getting yourself a good rest.

Cath,
Thank you for your comments today…I sure do appreciate them, and I have lost the name of the book about launching a blog – I will have to look that up again on your fabulous blog site…
Yes, I did not find enough fruit or fresh food when away and there was a very ill baby on the plane home from Hawaii and within hours I was ill…it is now a huge case of pneumonia so I am not doing much of anything except coughing these days…and taking an antibiotic….rest is about all I can do as sleep is not happening.
Thank you for your concerns…
